Thanks Kim for organising the evening. I really enjoyed catching up with everyone.

The movie probably wasn't my cup of tea. It was well made, acted etc but the story line was too traumatic for me. As we said at dinner it does give you much more to think about than a lighter movie but not sure i want to think about it too much.

Anyway I would probably give it a 5. It is good to see lots of different types of movies.

Hard to say I actually liked this movie but I thought it was an excellent movie....it was very powerful and thought provoking... with a completely shocking ending. It had a lot of warmth as well ... the little boys were wonderful characters... and I had a lot of feeling for the mother... the German soldiers were completely horrible as well as the teacher.... very much a movie that should be seen by everyone to remind us of the atrocities that were perpetrated.... not sure what we are voting out of... I'd give it 4 out of 5

Although I dashed in and dashed off I had wanted to see this movie. I was a bit disappointed. I found the fact that they all had plummy English accents offputting and thought they could have found actors who could do a German accent. I think the Dad even had an American accent! I loved the score - I thought the music was very moving. It was a hard movie to feel emotion for the central characters but brought up a lot of issues to think about, and I thought it was refreshing to see the terrors of the war through a child's eye. A 6/10 for me, David.
